Shanghai Aims to Meet Charging Demand of Over 1.25 Million EVs by 2025
The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government issued a document on Thursday regarding its promotion of vehicle charging and battery swapping infrastructure in the city. The municipal government proposed to form a moderately advanced urban charging network to meet the demand of more than 1.25 million electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025. In addition, the ratio of vehicles to charging piles in the whole city will not be higher than 2:1. The measures stated in the document are scheduled to come into force on March 1, 2022.
Tencent Pursues Complete Carbon Neutrality by 2030
After launching a carbon neutrality plan in early 2021, Tencent announced on Thursday that it will start a “Net Zero Action,” promising to achieve comprehensive carbon neutrality in its own operations and supply chains no later than 2030. In addition, 100% green power in the company’s working areas will be realized no later than 2030.

On Thursday, the first covert photos of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) made by Denza, a joint venture established by BYD and Daimler AG, were leaked. The model is positioned as a medium to large-sized luxury MPV, benchmarked against the Toyota Alphard, adopting a brand-new design language. Baidu to Support BYD’s Smart Driving Business
STAR Market Daily learned on Friday that Shenzhen-based electric vehicle firm BYD has chosen Baidu as its official smart driving business supplier. Under this arrangement, Baidu will provide BYD with its Apollo Navigation Pilot (ANP), an autonomous driving assistance solution, and a human-machine co-driving map product. Baidu‘s Intelligent Driving Group has begun cooperation with BYD for technological development, and the mass production of joint models will reportedly be achieved soon.
